Although a male voice choir was originally established in Hazel Grove in 1936, the Choir was born in its present form in 1951.  Hundreds of singers and several musical directors have passed through our ranks since then as we have practised and performed continuously in "The Grove" and beyond.  As members of the local community we have partaken in countless fund-raising events and, in our own right, we have participated in numerous music festivals and massed choir concerts in various parts of the country.

The year 2001 was a very special time for the Choir, as it marked our Golden Jubilee.  A special Choir Dinner and Jubilee Concert were held to celebrate the occasion.  In 2002, Bernard Tattersall was awarded Life Membership of the Choir in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Choir over a period of 20 years.  Bernard joins former Musical Director Eric Barber and bass singer Jim Beswick as recipients of this special honour.

We continue to run regular rehearsals and concerts underlined by the same basic philosophy - to enjoy making music, sharing that enjoyment with our audiences and sharing good fellowship with one another.
